Fairy-Tale Cottages of Hugh Comstock
Carmel-by-the-Sea, a tiny seaside village on California's Monterey Peninsula was forever changed when, in 1923 Hugh W. Comstock built the whimsical "Doll House" and later its companion cottage now named "Hansel". Mr. Comstock, a self-taught architect and builder is credited with starting the fairy-tale architectural style for which Camel-by-the-Sea is known.
San Francisco Jewel Box
Nestled in the bustling Cathedral Hill area of downtown San Francisco stand these charming jewel box flats. Built in 1900 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has survived both the 1906 and 1989 California earthquakes. This prime example of turn-of-the-century residential architecture is now ready for her historic renovation.
